Tangles, tricky bodies and a dry smile

Emma Iben's drawings are melodramatic and humorous, and they convey emotional experiences through recurring motifs of tricky bodies, abnormal sizes and tangles. In Fitting in, a figure in a dress is built from a tangle of bodies on a field of pink; in Pressure, a person wears a very big clothes peg on their head.

The collection brings together four illustrations by Emma Iben. Precautions asks about the innocence of a guinea pig in a spiked collar, and Good conversation takes on what unconstructive communication feels like, with two strained faces stacked into a figure of eight on a bright yellow ground.
