Dancer

Dancer by Helene Brox catches a cream figure mid-stride on a sky blue ground, arms rippling like ribbons caught in their own momentum. There is no face and no floor, just the shape of movement itself, one arm curling back while the other reaches high, painted with the loose confidence of a paper cut-out. Helene Brox is an illustrator, hand letterer and mural painter based in Oslo, and a founding member of the illustration agency Heiaklubben. Her book covers won silver and a diploma at Norway’s Årets vakreste bøker in 2016, and she invents wholly unreal grafted plants to sell as prints.
