All around, the dark forest floor is crowded with fly agarics, chanterelles, berries, a hare, a robin on a stump, a worm and an ant. “I wanted to create a forest filled with details and fun, and for me an autumn forest is the best,” Christina says. “I love picking mushrooms and I don’t do it often enough.”

Christina Hägerfors is an illustrator originally from Sweden and now based in France, who has worked in illustration since her BA (Hons) at London College of Communication. She is inspired by colour, old prints and book covers, and hopes her pictures carry a kind of nostalgia. Her clients include The Guardian, The New York Times, The Observer and Time Out.
